Ukrtelecom laid almost 4,000 km of fiber optic cable in 2023

    Amid the war, Ukrtelecom continues to develop its optical infrastructure, provide Internet access to almost 90% of the number of settlements covered by the operator’s network before the full-scale Russian invasion, and help the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

    Operational efficiency

    Ukrtelecom generated total revenue of over UAH 3.8 billion (USD 100 mln) in the first nine months of 2023.

    The company’s EBITDA amounted to more than UAH 1 billion (about USD 30 mln), and the EBITDA margin was 28%.

    Optical network

    Ukrtelecom continues to build its optical infrastructure. This year, the company has already laid almost 4,000 kilometers (about 2,500 miles) of fiber optic lines.

    New users, both businesses and individuals, are connecting to the high-speed optical Internet. Over 9 months of this year, more than 120 medical and about 140 educational institutions have been connected to optics.

    Real estate: income and losses

    In the process of modernizing its technological infrastructure, the company frees up property that is no longer used to provide telecommunications services. The company effectively manages such property. Revenues from commercial lease amounted to over UAH 350 million (USD 10 mln) in the first three quarters of this year.

    Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukrtelecom has lost control of its real estate in the temporarily occupied settlements. The enemy has also destroyed, damaged and destroyed about 250 buildings, a lot of equipment and other infrastructure. According to preliminary estimates, the company’s balance sheet losses amounted to about UAH 700 million (USD 29 mln).

    Taxes

    The company fully fulfills its obligations to the state.

    In 9M2023, Ukrtelecom paid UAH 1 billion (about USD 30 mln) in taxes and duties to the budgets of all levels.

    Restoration work

    To provide services to subscribers, repair and restoration crews work every day and wherever they can, eliminating the consequences of accidents caused by enemy shelling. The work continues in frontline towns and villages, as well as in the settlements liberated from the occupiers.

    Ukrtelecom’s Internet services are available in almost 90% of the Ukrainian cities and towns covered by the operator’s network as of the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

    Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

    Ukrtelecom continues to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During the full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory by Russian troops, Ukrtelecom has provided the Ukrainian Defense Forces with dozens of UAVs, including Valkyrie and Leleka unmanned aerial systems, hundreds of drones, thousands of special command and control equipment, medical supplies, hundreds of vehicles and much more.

    We have already allocated about UAH 70 million for the needs of our defenders.

    Almost 400 employees of the company are defending the Ukrainian land in the ranks of the Armed Forces.
