The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection warns of the danger of downloading hacked software, because Russian hackers, including special services, spread viruses through torrents.
” Hackers trojanize ISOs and installation files and place them freely available on torrent trackers. If a victim downloads and installs such files on their computer, hackers gain access to its contents and can remain undetected for a long time,” the message reads.
The State Service noted that in many post-Soviet countries, system administrators still use unlicensed software (including operating systems) in institutions and companies of various forms of ownership, which is distributed using torrent trackers.
“By installing hacked software from torrents, they actually give Russian special services access to the contents of working machines. The use of a hacked operating system is especially dangerous, because in this case the attackers have full administrative access to the computer on which it is installed,” the State Intelligence Service emphasized .
As reported by Ukrinform, according to the State Special Communications Service, nine out of ten cyberattacks occur due to carelessness or lack of knowledge on the part of the staff.
