On the morning of July 19, many organizations in Ukraine and the world faced the problem of starting computers running on the Microsoft Windows operating system and using the CrowdStrike Falcon software.
Organizations of Ukraine, which were affected by the mentioned problem, have already fully or partially resumed their work.
Disruptions at airports around the world
Today there was chaos at airports on all continents of the world due to a global outage.
So:
- Turkish Airlines warned of a global outage that caused serious problems with ticket booking and check-in.
- Edinburgh Airport has warned passengers of a possible increase in waiting times due to an IT system failure.
- The Irish airline Ryanair has warned customers about possible disruptions.
- Indian airline SpiceJet has reported technical issues affecting online services, including flight booking and check-in.
- Passengers can’t check in for flights at Sydney Airport in Australia, people can’t claim their luggage, and Virgin Australia has suspended flights.
- Disruptions are observed at the Amsterdam airport.
What shall I do
Specialists of State Special Communications recommend using CrowdStrike’s instructions to quickly solve this problem:
- Boot into Windows in Safe Mode or Windows Recovery Environment.
- Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory
- Find the file named “C-00000291*.sys” and delete it.
- Restart your computer or server.
Experts recommend using the specified method until CrowdStrike works on eliminating the problem and does not provide official information.
