In the US, a bipartisan group of twelve senators introduced a bill on Tuesday that would give the administration new powers to restrict and ban technology originating in China, Russia and four other countries.
As reported by Ukrinform with reference to the statement of the US President’s National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, the White House actively supports this initiative.
“This bill provides a systematic framework for countering technological threats to the safety and security of Americans,” Sullivan said.
The RESTRICT Act, he said, would strengthen the administration’s ability to counter both “risks arising from individual transactions” and “systemic risks” associated with numerous transactions “involving countries of concern in sensitive technological sectors”.
“This legislation would give the US government the authority to prevent certain foreign governments from using technology services provided in the US in a way that poses a risk to sensitive US data and our national security,” Sullivan said.

The document will cover hardware, software and mobile applications, as well as artificial intelligence tools, financial technology, quantum communications and e-commerce products.
