“Kyivstar” will become the official representative of the British OneWeb in Ukraine and will provide satellite Internet services.
The national mobile communications operator “Kyivstar” will be the official representative of the British company OneWeb in Ukraine and will be able to provide high-speed satellite Internet services. This was announced by Kyivstar B2B director Kostyantyn Vechir during the Business Wisdom Summit, Interfax-Ukraine reports .
“We are currently testing OneWeb technology with some power structures. We will be the official representative of the company in Ukraine. We will also be able to offer these services to businesses,” said Vechir.
He explained that OneWeb has its own satellite group, which is able to provide high-speed satellite Internet even in non-standard conditions. This will be an alternative to Starlink operator services from SpaceX.
In March 2023, the parent group VEON, which owns Kyivstar, entered into an agreement with OneWeb to integrate its satellite services with terrestrial networks. The British company already has a group of about 550 satellites in orbit and plans to expand it with the help of SpaceX rockets.
Today, the British company already has about 550 satellites in low Earth orbit and plans to launch dozens more using rockets from SpaceX, which is owned by Elon Musk.
