Kyivstar, the largest Ukrainian communications operator, is decommissioning outdated services based on ADSL and xDSL technologies. This means that from October 16, 2023, the company will stop providing fixed telephone communication, data transmission and fixed (wired) Internet access services using these technologies.
Why does Kyivstar refuse outdated services?
The company explains this by the fact that ADSL and xDSL technologies are outdated and cannot provide the necessary quality of Internet services. Also, networks built according to these standards are more vulnerable to damage, in particular, due to copper cable theft.
Details about the reasons for refusing outdated services:
- Low data transfer speed : ADSL and xDSL users often experience low Internet speed due to the limited bandwidth of copper cables.
- Network damage and theft : The theft of copper cables leads to service interruptions and negatively affects the user experience.
- Lack of potential : ADSL and xDSL technologies no longer have prospects for further development and modernization.
What should a business that uses outdated services do?
Businesses that use outdated services should contact Kyivstar to discuss the conditions and possibilities of switching to services based on new technologies. This can be done through a personal manager or by calling 0800300000.
“In the absence of a corresponding application or technical possibility of transition, the provision of the service will be suspended from October 16, 2023,” the operator’s message says.
