AMD announced the expansion of its partner ecosystem in the field of 5G, as well as presented new testing opportunities and 5G products.
Among the novelties:
- Laboratory of testing telecommunication solutions. AMD is creating a new Telecom Solutions Test Lab to help operators and telecom service providers test, validate and scale their end-to-end computing solutions by leveraging the power and performance of AMD’s latest processors, adaptive SoCs, SmartNICs, FPGAs and DPUs.
- Expanding the Zynq UltraScale+ portfolio. AMD announces the expansion of the Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC DFE family with two new devices — the Zynq UltraScale+ ZU63DR and ZU64DR. They will contribute to the growth and deployment of 4G/5G radios in global markets where there is a need for budget solutions with high power and efficiency to improve wireless communication.
- Development of AMD’s partner ecosystem together with Nokia. AMD’s wireless partner ecosystem doubled last year thanks to the integration of AMD and Xilinx product lines. AMD announces expansion of cooperation with Nokia, providing servers based on fourth-generation AMD EPYC processors for Nokia Cloud RAN solutions. This will help telecommunication service providers achieve productivity and energy efficiency goals.
AMD at MWC 2023
At MWC 2023, AMD showcased the Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC DFE family, the latest AMD EPYC fourth-generation processor-based systems, and introduced an ecosystem of telecom partners with booth demonstrations of more than 18 technology and radio partners.
The Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC ZU63DR is specifically targeted at four-transmit-four-receiver (4T4R) and dual-band entry-level O-RAN (O-RU) applications. The Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC ZU64DR is designed for eight transmit and eight receive (8T8R) O-RU applications using the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) split-8 option, which supports alternative and legacy radio block architectures.
Both RFSoC devices use the deep DFE integration available in Zynq’s flagship UltraScale+ RFSoC ZU67DR device and are expected to reach full production in Q2 2023.
5G ecosystem partners demonstrating radio solutions with AMD include: Abside, Astrome, AW2S, CellXica, Comba, Fujitsu, Mavenir, NEC, Solid, Tejas, Ulak, Viettel, VVDN and Zlink.
